Quilted Works mailer arrived yesterday and it's official.....

It's official, I am going to teach my first quilt class this April at a local fabulous shop, Quilted Works. I am excited because this is the quilt we are using to showcase the "wonky concept". My hope is to get some St. George wonky quilter converts by introducing the style done without a pattern and no paper piecing. I struggle with the fabric and definitely do not think one of my better projects but happy enough with it. I am going to hang some of my more favorite quilts with it so that people are not scared off with the muted colors :).......I would like your honest opinion if you would come and play with me. May be a fun vacation for you all to come and play with me in person instead of just through cyberspace.

Your blocks look great! If I could afford it I would come to your class & play!

Congratulations! I think those who join you will be having fun and be inspired. I personally love the muted colours. They provide a counterbalance for the "liberated" piecing which might be reassuring for more traditional minds. I also like the fact that you have chosen a pattern where even with the wonkiness you can easily identify classical blocks - the stars, the pinwheel ... Keep us posted if/when you make converts.

I will certainly be there...unfortunately in spirit only...but so excited for you to be teaching a class, especially a liberated, no rules class. i think it will be huge success!

I will take as many "spirits" in the class as I can sending me their warm and fuzzies! I am tickled to hear the feedback about the soft colors and the touch of tradition being inviting for the more traditional quilter, THanks, Zlatka!

I taught the wonky quilt class at a store in SG a couple of years ago. It was a real success. It was taught as a way to finish up a BOM. Mine was done with all brights and turned out great.
