"Giveaway"!!! This started as a celebration of little girls but....I COULDN'T EXCLUDE little boys....Tell me a story and enter to win them....


I couldn't do it, I couldn't exclude the sweet little boy babes in this world!!!!!!!! So, the giveaway continues but want to include a little boy also. Who wants this for a sweet little babe, tell me a story and enter to win!



Tonight I had a hankering to create a wonky girlie receiving blanket and so I played around with some scraps. POOF! I am so excited with all of the boys being born, but I have no girls on the way....

I will take this quilt to the quilter tomorrow. I will collect comments on this post until I get it back and then all people who submit a family expecting a baby girl or have a special story about a little girl that would love this quilt will go into a drawing and be the giftee! Another Godwink....WHAT is going on around here!!! CELEBRATING DUFF!





I was so ecstatic to receive mail from Duff in the mail today! It was a surprise and such a treat because it is almost my birthday! The photo is reminiscent of the concept of Godwinks and also the post where I celebrated girlfriends. Crazy thing is that the inside of the card is a Birthday greeting but she had crossed out and wrote, "Godwinks a plenty..." Duff, thank you for the unintentional birthday celebration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is such an amazing Godwink that happened to me today...Please read it all if you have a minute! Plus the Giveaway winner named......

God's Wings After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast...because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.'He will cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you will find refuge.'(Psalm 91:4) My instructions were to send this to people that I wanted God to bless and I picked you. The Godwink with the above story occurred this morning while I was at work. I had received this above story on my email and forwarded to many of you because of its beauty. Ria was a recipient and wrote back to me saying that she had just posted this Psalm 91:15 on her blog post this morning prior to reading this story.

Owls are off to the quilter.....What a riot of a quilt to make!!!!!!!!!!!

Ria who lives "across the pond" gave me a sunshine award yesterday and now I get the honor to share the CELEBRATION of 6 people who are rays of sun-and-fun in my life. DRUM ROLL....


Erin, Duff, Judi and Judi, Jenny, and Ria are my sunny peoples. And....I'd choose you all if I wasn't such a rule follower.....Oh Yeah, I am not when it comes to spreading cheer.....SO YOU ALL BRIGHTEN MY DAY WHEN YOU VISIT MY BLOG!!!!!!!


How this works Ria tells me is that I notify them that they have been recognized and then they go on to nominate 6 more people and so on......

Duff describes today as a BLISSFUL MORNING!!!....The Owls are taking shape.....and Michael asked, "Why don't you come dance with me?"....

I love this card because it inspired me to think of what I can do to inspire children of all ages and who has said to me, "Em......why don't you......" Who do you think of.......?
Rick and Michelle's babe will soon be wrapped in this evolving Owl fun-ness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a morning! Duff describes it as "Blissful" and I feel reverence and awe as we watch Michael Jackson's "This is It" and Lego....


and wondering if he has taught God to Moowalk yet. Can't you just see the heavenly angels, our friends and family and Trinity doing dance rehearsal......?


To watch the dancers and Michael rehearse, I think of the movement in quilts and all of our sewing machines dancing to create a concert of BEAUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Whether the allegations of abuse are true or not, not for me to judge but to CELEBRATE the legacy he left to the music world and the hope he instilled in so many youngsters that danced instead of doing drugs, suicide or followed the everyday path!!!!
THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............................................Life at its fine-ness!

Giveaway time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many "Godwinks" will happen to you this weekend?

As many of you may know...I love to study the gift card aisle and read and photograph them then post. This card was under the "I miss you" section. This seemed to be the perfect cartoon explaining a GODWINK....
A common Godwink for me occurs when I think of Grandpa Dave who died last summer and then I see a flag waving! His birthday was on Flag Day so we associate him with flags. I miss him so much!

Grandpa was an avid puzzler whether jigsaw or crossword. I created this quilt in the early days of my quilting fun and and hand stitched 88's all over for his 88th birthday. Still hanging in the apartment where he resided.


Another Godwink, I am thinking of Grandpa and someone brings me a puzzle! When in the wilderness or travelling to Price, I will be thinking of him and then a train will come by......he worked for the train all his life......


What a special guy, God is lucky to get to hang with him until I see him again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot imagine how many laughs they have shared together or who is helping who with the crossword puzzles. If you have read "The Shack" you will see how this scene would fit right into the novel....



Just being silly because God loves joy!!!!!







I was so delighted to awaken to Ria writing me a sweet comment on my email- so delighted that I made this funny face in bed to my kiddo...... Ria lives "across the pond" in a faraway land and talks of it being sunny today after so much rain. Yesterday I posted the above card.....A GODWINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pratima inspired me to start a sort of String quilt....I've always loved this star style on Mary Lou Weidman's blog!

First 12 inch block on a background piece to show up.... Has the potential to be kinda cute....Thank you Pratima for the inspiration to try a string quilt...And of course have to stick with my signature star......more blocks to come! CELEBRATING!!!! You guessed it, my boys bought me my first BMX for Valentine's. What a riot of a day!!!!

I actually have air under my front tire in this photo- only because I am seeing this do I believe this!!! Oh how I love living in my "fraternity", only boys at my house and they spoil me! I am sure you can relate, Vesuviusmama!

Kevin, if you are reading this, for me who was a geeky high school scholar who went to Harvard at age 17 for summer program, was president of every club imaginable and was valedictorian of my class, I too would have never thought I could be a silly mom or wife and then something magical happens with marriage and parenting.......You will rock at being a father of 2 boys!

Can you see how much I love my oldest, big old grin plastered on my face!!! So thrilled he came down to visit us for the weekend!
Lip Trix is our local board shop and we love it. Noah is a walking billboard for them in this photo


Jagger is a 4 year old who rocks the house. Always at the park with his dad and how cute, he was giving me tips today!!!!!! Oh how I love children!!!!!!!!!!

Celebrating! God's love...and a game for a giveaway! What would you text back to God?

A wonky Valentine quilt that makes me think of God's love as a cozy blanket to snuggle in!







How awesom are these book covers and chapter titles from 2 different books?!!!! Can you imagine that GodWinks was on the bargain row at Barnes and Noble and this workbook about LDS scriptures was next to the pharmacy at Lin's? Bargains that are priceless, I love oxymorons!!!


The giveaway game for this post will be very fun! Pls comment your text you would send God if you had received the above texts from him. No limit on characters. Everyone who submits a comment will be put in a hat for the drawing. Pls pass on the giveaway and if people of all ages participate then have them say you sent them so you can get an extra name in the hat! Celebrating....Fridge art turns quilt block!!!! Have you done this?


Since Noah created the flower sketch this past summer, I have desired to turn into a quilted postcard and tonight was the night! A simple and very fun quickie and looking forward to mailing tomorrow! If you have done this type of project before, I would love to hear your story and better yet, SEND ME PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And if you haven't, try it out when your kid or neighbor kid or grandkid wants to quilt with you :).
I was inspired by Erin's drawings by her boy, Donald, on her blog today, My Patchwork Place. The family members drawing seemed like a wonderful textile project.....What you do you think, Erin?

Dad, I love the collections of keys. Which one is to my heart?




Carbon County is known for the coal mining and dinosaurs. I love the slogan.....I would daresay as I child being raised there, I would have said it was on the "other side of the world". I now appreciate all that I did not when I was younger!




If you recall, I made a wonky American quilt for my father for Christmas. I love it and if you have not seen it on my blog, I encourage you to visit the post about "silver beavers". Judi from Greenfairy quilts stitched silver beavers, campfires and tents to celebrate my father's life devoted to Boy Scouts of America. The flag on the quilt is in honor of his years in the military. Above is a wall that my father made from the benches of the scout room that his past Scouts had painted and autographed. It is over 25 years old.





How Redneck and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My brother lives on 5 acres with his horse, mule, sweetie and adorable muppet dog that I have photoed before. I giggled when he told me that his yard has gotten so "Redneck" and in the summer he will be able to line them up....insinuating that then he will then no longer be Redneckin' it.






My father's collection of bicycles. The orange one is his latest favorite because of the double baskets. Why drive when you can pedal.....even when having bought lumber at the local Anderson Lumber store..... Now that was a feat and a sight to behold!





This is classic and guess what.... Saw ET here when I was in 3rd grade.




A favorite of mine, Catholic church a block from my home where I was raised. My favorite place for Christmas midnight mass. Still can smell the incense! Such a chilly walk home but some of the most peaceful minutes in my memory!


Mary Lou Weidman is a hero of mine and she recently posted a quilt that she had sent to the quilter of her trip to New Mexico. As I visited my family in Price this weekend, I was inspired to snap classic and not-so classic photos of where I grew up and convert to a wonky quilt....Hope you enjoy the above photos and the quilt blocks have begun........
