A weekend of celebrating and O's...in Oregon!

We visited Stitchin' Post and Noad spied this fabric...He is an avid finder of the word now!


An Oregon artist that is a new fav of mine, Lindy.  I love the 2 hugging trees that lead to a dangling star between them- in mine and Sean's case, Noah and SP!


The most elegant O's in Vegas that lit a night of CELEBRATION for Noah's 9th birthday.

Bend, Oregon is HEAVEN on earth!!!

I loved reading the theme because I began to envision silhouettes of people filled in with quilt style/ block patterns that represent their heart of creativity..."

What would you silhouette be filled with or what shape would you take on?

I envision myself as a wonky house with my eyes as windows, heart an open door and the doorbell is my silly laugh. LOVE in wonky lettering with embellishments of ribbons and bells and in the foyer, muddy cowgirl boots. And my weathervane wouldbe an "O" with my north pointing always to heaven.

Kind: A friendly, warm hearted nature.....Kind-a like a warm fuzzy feeling.

And below, my KIND dh who secretly did laundry last night when I was wondering how I would get everything done before our trip.... The sink in the window is in honor of him today...




As I am working at my desk I am continually thinking of the word "KIND" and I can imagine there is a GODWINK story to go with this as I post to you, friends......So today I CELEBRATE

for her fabulous quilt.  I so adore Victoria and something special about a friend who encourages me to to do something new...I can't wait to make a sock for a swap using this technic...MARVELLOUS way to use teeny scraps that you just can't part with!

And then V sent me an awesom photo with the caption,

 "I have the just the spot for it (above block)!"  Attached was pic of her quilt that was missing one block....

A friend knows just how to inspire a smile and a sense of belonging!

Monday's Mantra- "O"de t"O" j"O"y! You are my bowl of Cheerios!




Oooh.....The jewel of the "O".........I oooooh each time I see this quilted postcard from Janet in my office and I love this description of FRIENDSHIP... The theme we have been CELEBRATING this week together on my corner of blogland..


Look how wonderful this Piece O' Cake quilt is!  All the "O"s.....Linda sent the pic to me when she was at the Road to Cali quiltshow.  What a sweetie!  Hope to someday be able to make the show in person.




Oooooooo at a vertical slant......It's a sign...


O after o after o in the linked chain....remember the paperdolls in Elementary school that were all connected....Friendship after friendship after friendship...


And some friendships are not sterling silver but a fake that are an irritant...Get out!!!! Can you relate?  I know I can...


I love this "O" because it takes on the shape of "Q" for...QUILT!!!


And the old standby....T P....who is your "Old standby in friendship?"  The person or furry friend you can always count on....

"O"h how many "O"s there are.

Anyone eat a bowl of Cheerios recently and think of all those little friendships being enjoyed?!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in love with little art quilts...a feeling of accomplishment and immediate gratification and the quilting with Roxy seems so doable and fun!  She and I get a little carried away and the let down for tonight......no solid brown for the binding tonight...Huge work week coming up but the goal is to bind tomorrow night....

I love how the periwinkle flower seems to glow!

ditt"O".......


I was so excited with how the first "0" turned out that another just seemed to hatch on this day of paying tribute to birdies.....For a special somoene who squealed with joy when she saw my first finished project....I decided on the green "0" for a punch of color and for the words since this is a gift of friendship...Tomorrow Roxy and I have a date to quilt this....

My little bird has left the nest for the weekend....


I have always enjoyed this Momo Wonderland line of fabric for the mama/ papa bird alighting in the tree to the baby bird eagerly awaiting a meal...And today it takes on new meaning as I awaken to the meows of Kevin and Izzy (had to include them in quilt form) and Harley's pacing, a wonderful husband.....



but no Noah.  He has made flight to California with friends for a "boys weekend".....
May he have a "ball" and a "hoot"in' good time! and may the chaperone dad be a wise old owl...This will make for some "golden stories" to come....Aren't I corny at times?


I didn't realize this time would come so quickly....One moment he is a little boy camping with his family and now..... There are birds everywhere I look!



Are you quietly thinking of a moment when you realized your child was becoming independent from you or shedding a tear as the moment is coming this spring when the acceptance letter to a faraway college is in the mailbox?....or when you were the birdie leaving the nest....



The mama and the papa bird.....children are flowers that were nurtured and now ready to color the world and plant in a new garden...



And nurture their own nest....Someday, this little boy will be a nervous soon-to-be father and  Sean and I will eagerly await the arrival of a new little birdie for our family tree...and may that be 10's of years from now!  Legos and dirt bikes are good for this mom and the occasional mini flight from home :)!

Ordinary becomes EXTRAordinary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What did you think of first?  Your very first thought?......

I have a guess but I am not claiming super Grover powers so I will wait to see how many people leave the comment I have bets ons....

Tonight I bring up the very important topic, SOCKS.....just because I found this photo of a sock I made last year for a gift filled with treats and it got me thinking......

Since wee childhood we were told coal comes to naughty kids and now that coal is priceless in my heart when I think of lives risked to mine it in my hometown and the miracle of miners saved this past year....

Most important aspect of my job as a wilderness nurse in winter is reminding staff and clients importance of DRY socks, not placing to close to fire when warming, which socks are wiggy and which are hiking, drying them on shoulders and waitlines when hiking....sock exchange- the most valuable tool we can use each day for prevention of trench foot and nip and frost bite....and now the exchange is part of my life with the swap with Mary Lou....double meanings!
World War veterans who lost feet to gangrene and frost bite......Diabetic clients who check feet daily and signs of purple bring tears......

Socks that are silly socks, church socks as part of prepartion for the long-awaited job interview, the dreaded run in nylons....socks rolled up and used for throwing in Sock Wars at my house....

Sock Monkeys, Sock it to 'em sluggler, Eye Sockets, sock monster in the dryer that eats all of the socks..

and if you are Josh....the dearest Sock of them all

RED SOX!!!

The "O" began as the "O" on Oprah Magazine to CELBRATE this month's issue of Creativity and Celebration of the human spirit..and then I thought of a dear friend who put her tv in the kitchen to watch Oprah everyday when CELEBRATING liberation from a controlling husband....and then I thought of how often I long to create but have housecleaning tempting me....and then the CELEBRATION of all of your interps, ALL SO POETIC and I read over and over while at work today.

Monday's Mantra! Celebrating Life as a Palette and Seussical labyrinth....

A visit to Penny at Sew Take A Hike this morning left me dreaming of even more ideas to create!!!!!!!!!!!!  Fellow bloggers, please stop posting so I can get some sleep at night and not be distracted while at the office :). 

I had already awakened with dreams in my head of.....
"Finish the Seuss....Play with Kaffe's....lie in a bubble bath...tackle the HUMBUG for Tonya....begin a Red X for V....or.....Housework....? 

So many fabrics and projects and too little time!

And yesterday....I am almost ready for Christmas 2010...Seuss for THING 2 is quilted.....

Followers give me HAPPINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Happy Joy Joy for a special someone who is my 100th follower!  Seemed fitting to use Butterfly Blues and Pinks to CELEBRATE!  I quilted her name as though it is encrypted as we all know is a game in leaving a comment on a blog, kissed it for luck and off it sails across the world to a new home!  May the happiness of friendship in Blogland jump out of this card and sprinkle creative ju ju all over Liz!

Janet's sewing studio is all a buzz as everyone takes their places for catching candy and then ready to primp and giggle and guess who will be the first to dance the

Bernina Burlesque....


Lilac will be the MC and gracious hostess offering morsels of scraps, kindly removing runaway threads from gowns and guiding thirsty guests to the den for a momet to stitch or review the current blog buzz...
I love her embellishment at her waist...is that topaz?!!!!


And in the den....the light is switched on and unbeknownst to the innocent guest..

Don Juan Rotary is whispering sweet nothings to Suzy Scissors....

They giggle as they look at one another's ribbons and at the same time ask,

"How did you know that Purple is my favorite accent?".....

When I posted this morning about PEACE.....I celebrated the fun and silly of the word... and then a Godwink....CRYSTIE sent me the whisper of peace as the dove alighted on my phone..

Same word....

but connotation and visceral response so..... (you fill in blank).....

And the dove I dedicate to you Dearest Laurie at TangosTreasures.....

I would like to revisit the peaceful wishes that are alive during the Christmas season and hope that Peace is yours today.
