My little bird has left the nest for the weekend....

I have always enjoyed this Momo Wonderland line of fabric for the mama/ papa bird alighting in the tree to the baby bird eagerly awaiting a meal...And today it takes on new meaning as I awaken to the meows of Kevin and Izzy (had to include them in quilt form) and Harley's pacing, a wonderful husband.....

but no Noah.  He has made flight to California with friends for a "boys weekend".....
May he have a "ball" and a "hoot"in' good time! and may the chaperone dad be a wise old owl...This will make for some "golden stories" to come....Aren't I corny at times?

I didn't realize this time would come so quickly....One moment he is a little boy camping with his family and now..... There are birds everywhere I look!

Are you quietly thinking of a moment when you realized your child was becoming independent from you or shedding a tear as the moment is coming this spring when the acceptance letter to a faraway college is in the mailbox?....or when you were the birdie leaving the nest....

The mama and the papa bird.....children are flowers that were nurtured and now ready to color the world and plant in a new garden...

And nurture their own nest....Someday, this little boy will be a nervous soon-to-be father and  Sean and I will eagerly await the arrival of a new little birdie for our family tree...and may that be 10's of years from now!  Legos and dirt bikes are good for this mom and the occasional mini flight from home :)!

Mary- Any news of a stork's arrival?

Growing up and growing older!......

A prism of emotion that changes direction and design with each moment...

Love, Em

DH and I just received a beautiful letter from our youngest bird (24 last week). I have always described her as "flighty" and somewhat immature for her age. She wrote us a letter for our anniversary, thanking us for who we have been and continue to be as parents. Wow!

My little birds (34 and 31) flew the nest long ago, but they always love to visit their family tree :). You have some great bird fabric. Can't wait to hear how the trip goes.

Well Em, as you know I'm the one getting ready to send my bird off to college. Some days it makes me so so sad and some days I so very happy for her to spread her wings and take flight!

It sure can be hard when they leave the nest for short visits and then when they leave for good!! Oooh! watch out! THAT's quite a "moment!" I always think it's sad...but "normal", so I can't complain.

It is with mixed emotions we watch our children grown.
Loved all your birds and fun analogies.

You are so right. The times goes by so fast. A blink of an eye and they are all grown up. But the wonderful thing is that they keep returning home to see mom! Think of the positives and enjoy this time now. Your little boy is so cute!

No news yet. Still waiting. I loved reading this post. I eagerly await the spring arrival of new eggs in all of the nests around the yard and then thrive on watching the interaction between the mom and dad caring for their young. One wonders if they are ready to send their little ones off on their own. It is tough to see them leave and so wonderful to see them come back appreciative of all the time and sacrifices it took to raise them.

My baby birds flew the nest years ago - they are 34 and 32. I have two new baby birds the I get to see only occassionally (4 yrs old and 18 months old) as the live out of state. They are already growing too quickly for grandma bird. Noah will always return to the nest!

Jason is on a sleepover tonight, too. Poor Donald was not terribly understanding why he had to stay home without his brother - usually we schedule sleepovers for the same night so he won't feel left out. Oh, well. He and I have been getting some quality "just us" time. May your little birdie have a wonderful adventure and a safe flight home!
