A Project to CELEBRATE children, would you like to contribute?

I loved creating my most recent project of the cat in the jungle and thought....

My interp of Exotic Jungle from the interp of a 2nd grader who interped  Henri Rousseau's piece from 1908.  I LOVE THE CREATIVE PROCESS!!!!!

This is Exotic Landscape interped by a second grade student from East Washington Academy in the book Vincent Van Gogh's Cat, Copyright 2010 by Scholastic Inc.  The book is winner of KIDS ARE AUTHORS AWARD and is fabulous.

I posted about buying this book last fall at a book fair and my plans for making into applique projects...then to my delight I was told that I was awarded 1 of the top 5 slots for Best Quilt Blogs by Guide to Art Schools due to that post...kinda fun and a lot of hits from this award.

I awoke yesterday and thought,
"I want to make a quilt to send to the elementary school, East Washington Academy,  with each child's drawing turned into a quilt block then sash together and CELEBRATE the talent and creative process for the 2nd graders from Muncie, Indiana"

The book is currently on back order and should be shipped to the Academy any day this month and then mailed to me.  I have spoken with Kristi at the school and I will be having copies shipped to me.   I will mail out the book to people who would like to do the blocks for the quilts......

Your support is already rolling in and I THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Deadline is Mother's Day weekend so that there is plenty of time to enjoy the process and hope that it is not a DEADLINE :)....

Below are supporters of project and which artist they have chosen.  There are still plenty of artists to choose from and a book becomes yours when you offer to donate :).  Let's flood the world with this sweet artisitic book, my treat!

Have you ever seen Santa's reindeer on the side of road....whether you answer yes or no...Visit Janet at http://cariboucrossingchronicles.blogspot.com/ and enjoy her homeland!!! She is going to tackle Klee's Hermitage..

Wahoo!  Mary at http://fiberliscious.blogspot.com/ is all over the Georgia O'Keefe Poppy!  THANKS, Mary!!!

This Matisse dancing duo will be interped by Lynn at http://alamosaquilter.blogspot.com/.  I am so excited with the support!!!!!!!

Monet is all you, Stephanie!  Have fun! Drop by and tell her "hi" at http://peasinapod.typepad.com/.

The Miro  is spoken for by Caroll at http://westmichquilter.blogspot.com/ ...THANK YOU, CAROLL!!!!

The Van Gogh sunflower beauty is spoken for by Victoria at http://bumblebeansinc.blogspot.com/.  THANK YOU, V!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have Starry Starry Night by Van Gogh, Tree of Life by Klimt, Green Dancer by Degas, Three Musicians by Picasso, Little Girl in a Blue Armchair by Cassatt and Sistine Madoona by Raphael....All with so much potential!!!  And all of them I will not mind if I HAVE TO interp :).  I would HATE for you to miss out though!
Anyone interested in interping a drawing then mailing to me and I will piece and quilt them together...?I  ask that they are 16 1/2" square blocks for finish size and can include details such as a frame, artist name incorporated- YOUR INTERP! OR...

DO you enjoy making wonky houses and would like to make a school house for a border or a your interp of a child that could be incorporated in the quilt...you get the idea, LET"S MAKE AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF ART to CELEBRATE this school and the students!

I will warn you, once you create one block, you will want to make more!

.Come play with me and CELEBRATE children!

I will leave the creating to others as I am very much a follow the pattern type of gal. But I love the idea and know that you will have lots of artistic people participate in this great celebration of 2nd graders. You are awesome, Em!!

Love this idea and am interested in donating a block. You have my address. I'm especially eager to do this since I am from Indiana and our basketball team played Muncie.

I am interested in the last one (first choice) or the one above Caroll's or the one above that (either one). But when do you need these by? I'm sorry if I missed the date.

I'm one of Caroll's friends. This looks like an interesting challenge!

I'd love to do the fourth up from the bottom. The one with the purple background, black figure, yellow stars and cat. Email me and I'll send you my address. When do you want them by?

You can give me that blue page with the sun and the green cat, if it's still available. Or you can give me a different one. But I'll need a better picture to see it. And when do you want it by?
