Desigual.....Finally found a doctor coat......Clothing as a therapeutic tool

Ooh la la....look at these fun flowers...My favorite to broderie perse....

Circumpunct....bullseye!

"White Coat Syndrome".....

Are you familiar with this phrase?

....If so, this jacket turns the original meaning into an oxymoron....
unless your blood pressure elevates secondary to delicious colors and possibilities for applique...

when adding a splash of color, a circumpunct and the mystery of 3 girlie pumps...hmmmm..

A labcoat that is great for conducting social experiments!

Do you have a favorite wardrobe embellishment or piece of clothing that is a conversation piece or brings a skip in your step for the day and only you notice?

or....

better yet....That item that you are saving for or putting on your Santa list for Christmas 2011?

When I return to school for my Nurse Practitioner.....My dissertation will be on clothing as a therapeutic tool. More to come on this idea..but for now....

What are you wearing today? How come you chose what you are wearing?  Do you put thought into your day's costume or simply grateful you got dressed or that you GET to hang in your jammies for the day while quilting....

CELEBRATING Judi getting to wear her sneakers to work yesterday instead of walking boot related to recent surgery.....

So many stories weaved into our garb!

Clothings as a therapeutic tool ... what a FABULOUS topic. Colors, textures, warmth - these all affect how I feel (although I must dress for a chilly office even when it is 80+ outdoors). I love to embellish denim shirts (easy to find). I'd really love to embellish a doctor's coat!

I'm one of those with white coat syndrome. I'm sure this would raise my blood pressure for other reasons. What a great coat!

When I wear my hand knit socks, I have a little extra spring in my step and no one else really sees them or my extra spring...

And I am really digging the picture of the now capped red rock and mustangs on your sidebar today. I used to live in Utah/Idaho. We had horses. That makes me miss it so much.

Yes! Clothing is such a great therapeutic tool, and that coat is so 'You'! For me, colour, comfort (and to a lesser extent, quality) are what make me feel good...especially colour. One of the best things about growing older (51 in April...51, how did that happen?!) is that I care much less about what other people think about my clothes, and dress to please me (OK - and my husband...mostly!)If I'm feeling good; really alive and vibrant, it makes those around me feel better too!

I don't have any thing as fun as you have here.

I love that lab coat!!!! It is fun to see all the new designs for scrubs these days. I do like your idea for your thesis.

Today it is blue jeans and a lime turtleneck. Lime is a neutral, isn't it?

I have a crystal & stone necklace that my mom bought me from Sedona. It's supposed to help the wearer with "balance." All I know is that I always feel calm when I wear it. When I have an important meeting, I wear it under my clothes!

I love the coat and the colors. I'm day two in shoes! I'm looking forward to shopping for new ones and thrilled my foot fits into my boots again. I studied fashion design and did some color analysis and such. It does make such a difference. Oh I'm not a white coat.

Blue jeans & a dusty teal thermal shirt,& my fave teal, aqua & clear bead double bracelet.
Every day I wear the silver Figaro chain bracelet my Mom gave me, & the silver Figaro chain necklace from one of my bffs ~ they never come off if I can avoid it ~ along with my "Mark Of Excellence " ring & my beloved Lego watch! This watch gets lots of comments & it just makes me smile :^)

Nothing is more calming in a medical setting then some color! :)

I'm celebrating peeling a layer off as Spring has sprung in England and the sun is shining at last - and casting the boots off in favour of a pair of flip-flops - it feels like coming out of hibernaion!!

ORANGE! When I need a pick-me-up, I wear orange. I have an orange blazer, and orange suit, two pairs of orange shoes and two pairs of orange socks (no, I don't wear the orange socks with the orange shoes). It works so well that I convinced another woman in my office to wear orange on days that she thinks she needs a little extra boost of energy and confidence.

Love the coat!

I'm late to the discussion but I just wanted to throw in my two cents about how some artists will put on an apron or smock to signal to themselves that it's time to get to work. I'm not sure I could be comfortable working in a lab coat (I can't wait for the weather to get warm enough around here for me to shed layers and bulk!) but I've often thought of adopting something lighter for studio time. My son-in-law gave me a couple of artifical leis from Hawaii that I've worn when my spirits were particularly low. They worked!

I can't make myself decorate a lab coat (although it looks like fun) because my ex was in medicine and it would forever remind me of the years we were together.
