A sunny little inspiration for a Barista who is my daily dose of Vitamin E!

Finished the embellish quilting on this little poject last eve and bound while having the oil changed...SOMETHING SO FUN about making the final finishes on a project and gift....As this fabric says, Coffee can enhance the morning, BUT THE PEOPLE AND STORIES SHARED OVER A CUP OF COFFEE are what MAKE THE MORNING!  Cup of Kindness as noted on the fabric ribbon is when a smiley face is markered in on my cup by the barista!  And the sign below from my Starbucks this morning- CELEBRATING stories and relationships over a cup of coffee!!

The "C" word is everywhere!!!!! There must be a reason!!!!

Yesterday afternoon  I had no idea where a simple little creative exercise would lead and now I can't wait to for my barista, Lisa, to return from a vacation and find this little ditty at her Starbucks!  Just to be silly, this is my back label..Me and Lisa, identical twins of us if we were about 30 years younger and cartoon figures...

Lisa is the sweetest lady and greets us Regulars in the driveup Starbuchs window by saying, " MORNIN MORNIN, This is Lisa, How are you baby?".....

This gift became hers as I quietly stitched and wondered what the Godwink is.....That is always the gift to me- the surprise and joy of another!

Thank you, Erin at http://vesuviusmama.blogspot.com/, for the idea of using little girls to represent me and the recipient of quilt!  I still giggle when I see me and you, Erin, on the FRIEND quilt you made me that hangs in my office near Victoria's!

For a stashbuster and a creative exercise...

.I decided to pick a selvage and create a mini quilt with the theme....

"GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE" from Mark Lipinkski line was the lucky winner...

So many selvages.....and it was heartbreaking making the decision and putting the rest in the bin and rolling them back under the bed...I could hear their disgruntled sighs and disappointment! (Toy Story has ruined me because now I put a personality to most inanimate objects...)

And with the selvage I began....a quick 15-20 minutes later I had the simple pieces cut, placed and wonky block stitched.....

And with this little project, I played with Roxy's foot and added some little primitive quilting patterns....

The Story Behind the Selvage  because as you may know, I LOVE STORIES!!!!

Each morning when Noah and I are driving to school and when the sun is coming over the buttes near Zions Park, we sing-songy greet, "Good morning, Mr. Sunshine."  To think that a selvage can bring to mind a tradition that I will forever treasure and someday share with grandchildren...
The quilt is simple, the story is a reminder that each morning gives the gift of sunshine.....

Love, Em

PS I would love a photo of your art piece if you ever try this creative exercise! It takes but a few minutes and may give a lift to someone's day that is a GODWINK!  and is a lift to you as you get crazy and create!And...it allows you to work on the infamous 2011 resolution to use the stash!!!!
