There was a blogger hopping through the regular blogs and chanced to land in a beautiful, colorful heading. She settled there with a cuppa and some snacks to keep her company as she hopped from page to page. While she was reading the blog, her cursor left her hand and landed with a click in the most colorful of all colorful places! Mesmerized this blogger was immersed in lively vibrant bold colors ! ! ! WOW! WOW! she exclaimed loudly...these quilts are just fantastic ... those varying brilliant colors in such lovely designs captivated her for hours ... MAGNIFICENT ... will she follow? .... will she? She reached for her mouse and quickly .... hurry she remains poised to .....

MMMM :) Love Dawn's story!

There once was a gal who loved to quilt. Fabrics and styles and techniques fascinated and captivated her so that one day she realized her whole house was swimming in a riot of color and fun and beloved half-worked or even un-started quilts of all sorts of luscious types. This gal spent two whole weeks one fateful January combing through every stack and cubby and underbed hidey-place until she found all these beloved, but unfulfilled friends. Oh, My!! The piles were high!! Many, many saved boxes that had delivered glorious books from Amazon in the past, a few sheet-set zipper pouches, and a handful of on-sale craft bins soon put all that to order. Now what to do? This gal saw that astonishing pile of UnFinished Objects and fell back in utter overwhelmth. How could she ever finish them all? And, Oh, She had so many new ideas and projects she wanted to try because she'd seen many, many wonderful works in Blogland. But she remembered her Grandmother's funeral and her heart's desire to also have family and friends come to her own funeral Decades down the Road with a quilt or 2 or 3 from her in hand so that hundreds of labors from a lifetime of love of family and fabric and creating would create a riot of quilted celebration of her life that filled an entire ballroom with Amazingness. So, this Gal, who was far enough along Life's Road to perceive her mortality, but not so far that she no longer felt Young(ish), picked herself up, talked herself into not dropping her other LifeGoal (no, no, no, she should not quit working on her Masters in History just so she could focus entirely on this Quest), and she organized her own Blog to Motivate and Organize and Chronicle her Journey Through The Completion Quest. This Gal continues on her path, amazed at how much she has been able to accomplish in Five short months - delighting in the People she meets in Blogland as she visits their personal spots and gazes in awe at the works they are doing. She laughs and cries with these people and bookmarks oh-so-many Fantabulous Ideas for That Day, some day, when she has finished her Quest of Completion - when all Forty-Five projects have come to fruition - and she can Romp through a Playground of Creativity and begin a new Journey of exploring new ideas and dotting the path behind her with even more quilts and smiles.

One of my FAVORITE quilt teachers is Ann Turley. She also happens to be a former president of my guild, and a friend. I remember one of the classes I took with her - it was at the time that game show "The Weakest Link" was on. Ann is always making us crack up in class & this time, if she deemed that one of us was a bit slow or we had to stop to fill a bobbin or something, she would come over & stick a sign on our machine & loudly pronounce: "You ARE the Weakest Link!" All in carried off during gales of laughter! And, trust me, we EACH had a turn as the WEAKEST link! LOL Ann taught me paper piecing, fabric dying, and has inspired me to work out of my box & try art quilting.
I can't wait until I can take another class from her, even though she's moved a few hours away, that's not far enough to escape me!

This is the story of yet another Gal, we will call her....one who happily raised three kiddos and homeschooled them all. She raised her eyebrows and whispered, Thank you Lord, I wouldn't change a thing, when acquaintances would question her "having" to be with her kids 24/7. She enjoyed hikes, plays, making costumes, even struggling through "when the trains will meet when they left different stations at different times" problems. Senior trips and graduations were planned and executed, and all three went on to college and did well. One of her kiddos hurt her (and his dad) deeply, and caused a rift felt through the whole family. Despite repeated attempts from them to reconcile, the kiddo rejected all he had known for so long. She began to withdraw from many of the things that had brought her joy in the past. To make a long story short, this gal has found joy in making new friends and in expressing her creativity again. There is contentment and accomplishment in her life that is not from her full time job, but from her chosen "after hours" job, of celebrating these new friends, and of making items for those who are hurting and have lost their way. She finds solace in knowing that her child may again find his way, and cross their threshold again, in God's timing. She can smile again.

There once was a girl who was a study in contradictions, petite and soft spoken - but a karate kicking motorcycle mama, introverted to her core - but who won accolades for her public speaking abilities, a homebody who thrilled in the excitement of travel almost as much as the excitement of coming back home again, a girl that everyone wanted to befriend but who only bestowed the title of "friend" on a select few, a creative soul who searched and searched to find the right medium and found the perfect outlet for her non-traditional heart in the traditional craft of quilting. This girl found a soulmate on the other side of the country, and spent interminable months longing to bridge the miles so they could consummate their virtual friendship with an honest to goodness hug followed by hours of chatting and sipping and stitching as they laughed and cried and sat speechless, marveling at the wonders of creation together. The end of this story is yet to be told, friend.
