This quilt card is the focus for the giveaway for this week!!!! Ready for the rules, GET CREATIVE and or give me feedback! Also, if you want a hint to some of the hidden meaning, go to the post about Green Fairy being my celestial goddess....
My twin nephews will be born this Friday at noon and I made this large "greeting card" for the mom, Amanda. I am calling these quilts cards because they are stiff using iron on material that would normally be used to give paper dolls shape..Know what I mean?
I have put symbolism and some silly in it. What a surprise, Huh?
Rules: 1. Come up with the list or
2. tell a story about the final days before a birth or
3. silly piece of advice for the first-time parents or
4. just leave a comment and you will be added to a drawing.
5. If you are willing, for an addition to drawing, leave a piece of feedback on quilt designs/ style you like to see when you visit me.
Fat quarters, including the pears fabric in this card will be yours or a greeting card if you prefer. Have fun with it!!!!! The giveaway ends when I get the text that the babies are here, healthy, and screaming, "WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
My mother-in-law, Lynda, is as fresh as this card is and her laugh is contagious!! I have the backing on, hand stitching done in my signature primitive style and ready for the mail. This may become a new trend of mine! Oh man, I need a pedicure!!!!!
Noah sweetly asked to make a card with me for Seany, his big bro! I was in seventh heaven as I ironed and glued his above creation. He asked to buy a Hot Wheel tomorrow to be enclosed in the gift pkg. Something so endearing to me that my near 20 year old son and 8 year old son are this close and that he still will welcome a Hot Wheel!!!
And Kevin....if you are reading this, you too can enter since your entries for the giveaway may be quite fascinating as the EXPECTANT FATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, man, I sure have missed you while I've been away from blogland, absorbed in work and then my quilt retreat. Let's see...
For symbolism:
Pears = pair of twins
One side border upside down = I'm a twin and I was breech, maybe one of these is breech, too
Beer = a celebration (of the arrival of the twins)
That's all I can come up with. Can't wait to see photos of the new additions!
I had my first pedicure in 2009 and it was wonderful! Love the fabrics you use and can't wait for the THEY ARE HERE post!
Beautiful cards and fabrics used here.
Okay, here we go. Hmmmm…
1. The pears represent Amanda’s growing body. Especially if it’s a boy, the hips just widen. That’s how I can tell if it’s a boy or girl.
2. The beer. Perhaps Amanda and hubby had to work a while with this pregnancy? Every one I know who had a problem, well, a few beers later and bingo, bango, bongo, she was prego.
3. 3 flowers—the one on top is part of Mom and the other two symbolize each child. Especially the peace symbol—we consistently hope that each generation will come close to the ideal of peace in the world. The centers are like each person is in his or her little world, but in the end, they are one—a family!
4. Mom Day is in a zebra stripe, signifying how crazy this first Mom’s Day is going to be for Amanda, but in the end, she will blossom (like the O).
5. Hmmm, the giraffes are a little more difficult. Things may seem like a zoo, or upside down for that matter, for a while, but remember that each baby has its own “color” and personality so go with the flow!
6. Or drink lots of beer. That’s why it’s near the “floor” portion of the quilt. LOL!!!!!!
LOL. I think I'll sit this one out--it's more fun to watch folks try to come up with the symbols! ;-)
I finally got around to photographing the great quilts you sent along, so you're the spotlight of my post today, Em.
Holy cow...do we really only have 68 hours left?!?
This is turning out so cute. I love the greeting card idea.
I love your cards!!! What a great idea! Your creativeness is so inspiring!
Happy Mother's Day to you EM!!!!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)
Mom, Amanda, is the middle orange piece with the flowers. The two side panels with the giraffes are the twin boys. The beer piece at the bottom represents dad (don't all dad's like beer?) who is going to be a huge support for mom and the twins. The top panel with the pears and apples represents the extended family - grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles who are hovering around waiting anxiously for this exciting birth so they can lavish love on everyone.
Great cards!
